In December 2003, the HRC Foundation conducted a public opinion poll that found while 77 percent of respondents consider themselves “out” as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender, only 32 percent talk to their parents about public policy issues, and only 46 percent talk to their brothers and sisters about such topics. In contrast, respondents were much more likely to speak frankly on these topics with casual acquaintances (57 percent) or co-workers (54 percent).

Golan Cipel, the self-described straight guy who says NJ Gov. James McGreevy repeatedly put unwelcome moves on him, will not sue for sexual harassment after all.
All that's left of this story, then, is that McGreevy came out as gay and admitted he had an adulterous affair with a man.
In post-Clinton 2004, that's no reason to resign.
McGreevy should tell us the full story of why he's resigning, or, if the affair is the whole story, he should un-resign.
One possibility: McGreevy and Cipel were actually boyfriends (and Cipel isn't straight) at the time McGreevy hired Cipel to work for him in a job that Cipel reportedly was unqualified for. That could provoke a resignation.
Of course, McGreevy has not told us who his affair was with and Cipel claims to be a molested straight guy, so I could be connecting dots that aren't even on the same page. Talk to us, James.
