Dear Editor:

By now it has been proved beyond all doubt, and not contradicted by the White House, that in 1972 George W. Bush avoided taking the physical exam normally required by his National Guard status. Surely a simple question is now in order, one which could be readily answered by consulting the appropriate records: as of that date, did National Guard physical exams include drug-testing?
