Welcome to my blog. It's called "security risk"

welcome to my blog. ultimately, i think, it's the hoopla surrounding the death of ronald reagan that made me want to join the blog craze. i found myself desperate for an oasis in the desert of the fawning, "liberal media"---and when i did find alternative commentary on reagan's legacy, i wanted an easy way to collect and share them.

more generally, i want to create a space where i can save, organize, post, and link interesting commentary, especially queer politics and culture, the fall election campaign, and the war in iraq. the overheated political debate over LGBTQ rights has increasingly made me want to forward emails to people as individuals and various groups. this way, i think, is simpler.

i've called it SECURITY RISK to flag the fact that not so long ago, during the cold war era, queers weren't just outsiders to the american state, but were supposedly dangerous internal threats to democracy and freedom. and i want to suggest that while great strides toward equality have been made, we are living with a president who is dead-set on stopping that progress---and, seemingly, on destroying the world. let's get him the hell out of there, OK?
